tDictionary
tDictionary uses both text and images to define words.
Depending on the user's choice of settings, the dictionary is automatically updated via the Internet. Most entries are made in response to
suggestions or requests made by students. The goal is to make a dictionary that reflects
the learning needs of the students, not simply a large collection of words. The
definitions are written in the simplest terms, intended to be read by students of the
lowest levels. Images are listed along with text entries as often as possible. Feedback is
welcomed and requested
On either side of this web page you
may see an example of the flexibility of the dictionary. Some words are available in
either text or image format. For example, the 'lobby' is defined in text on the
right. If the user clicks on the next entry in the scrolling dictionary a picture of a
hotel lobby will appear.
tDictionary remains on top of the screen in the lower right-hand corner
regardless of the web page or application being viewed. Whenever the mouse is moved over the dictionary
it will expands making scrolling and searching for words easier. Users may turn it on or
off if they want to by double-clicking on the icon in the Windows tray. Click here to download tDictionary.
